How is coronary heart disease treated? There is a non-surgical treatment!

by clinic

One of the symptoms that heart patients frequently complain about, coronary heart patients, who are caused by problems such as pain in the chest and shortness of breath, are analyzed through interventional methods! Thanks to non-surgical tests that eliminate the risks of surgical factors that arise due to aging, the patient can regain his health. Memorial Ankara Hospital Cardiology Department Leader Prof. Dr. Ali Oto gave information about the interventional treatments applied in cardiovascular occlusions before the “29 September World Heart Day”.

Coronary heart diseases, which occur with complaints such as chest pain and shortness of breath in a valuable part of heart patients, can be analyzed with interventional methods. Non-surgical systems, which are applied to very old patients and those whose surgery is very risky, give extremely successful results.

Attention to Movement Pain!

The vessels feeding the heart are called coronary vessels, that is, coronary arteries. These vessels, which have the characteristics of arteries and feed the heart, do not disperse in the heart, unlike other organs, but watch over the heart. In these vessels, which extend over the heart and give branches to the true heart muscle, narrowing and blockages may occur over time due to atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis, also called atherosclerosis, can be commonly seen in the entire arterial system, while its occurrence in the vessels feeding the heart leads to a heart attack in case of complete blockage.

Beware of Moving Chest Pain!

Narrowing or occlusion of the coronary vessels certainly occurs with symptoms in individuals. The most obvious symptom is often in the form of chest pain. This pain starts with movement and walking, goes away with rest, is often in the pressure style, and has the characteristics of a pain that is reflected in the neck, jaw, arm and left side of the back. However, while vascular occlusion can manifest itself without any symptoms in some patients, especially in diabetics, in some cases, it can occur with sudden death. However, this kind of ailments can be diagnosed before they even show symptoms, with general inspections, training tests or computerized tomography, and special means called myocardial scintigraphy, when there are no symptoms.

There Are Two Procedures for Clogged Veins!

Two different treatment systems are applied for the treatment of patients with clogged heart vessels. The first is coronary bypass surgery, that is, the surgery to bridge the occlusions. The second option is the non-surgical opening of the vessels with interventional cardiological systems that have been developing for 40 years. The interventional cardiology system, which started with balloon opening first, was continued with the use of systems called stent, made of metal material to prevent collapse of the vessel opened with balloon. Over time, it was seen that the easy stent system was not enough, and thanks to technological developments, special drug-eluting stents began to be used in the last 20 years.

Today, technologies related to drug-eluting stents provide very successful results. Thanks to the development of interventional cardiology, stenosis in the main vein that has never been touched before, stenosis in the bifurcation of the vein, complete vascular occlusions and many veins can be intervened at the same time. Thanks to these advances, the number of patients sent for surgery decreased from 60 percent to 5 percent. However, it should not be forgotten that patients in the 5% of the patients who are referred for surgery should definitely undergo surgery. Apart from these, another valuable development is the opening of the vein by making an emergency attempt to the clogged veins during a heart attack. In this way, the death of the heart muscle, which is the most unfortunate result of a heart attack, and the related heart failure and the limitation of life span are prevented.

Treatment is not only done from the groin but also from the wrist!

Another valuable development in the field of interventional cardiology is that the process can be performed by entering through different veins. Previously, interventional cardiological processes could only be performed by entering the inguinal artery. Now even the most complex processes can be performed by entering from the wrist vein. With this system, which provides great comfort for patients, patients can get up and walk around after the process.

For Those Who Seek Non-Surgical Analysis…

-The opening of the chest, which is a valuable problem for patients, especially the middle bone called the belief board, is eliminated.
-Patients can continue their work and life from where they left off the next day of the process.
– Most of the time, the period of heavy care is either not at all or very short.
-Very old and very risky patients can be treated with interventional systems.
