Nose; It is a dynamic functional organ covered with skin, muscle and ligaments on a cartilage and bone skeleton. In addition to its specific missions such as breathing and smelling, it has an aesthetic and visual value structurally. The nasal cavity is divided into two parts in the middle by a cartilage structure called the septum. Nasal bones and nasal cartilages form the roof of these compartments. The nose is a valuable module of the aesthetic identity of the person in the middle of the face. The nose is a valuable determinant of the aesthetic boundaries of the face, both from the front and in profile view. Rhinoplasty is also a goal; It is to create a healthy breathing nose that looks natural in harmony with the facial aesthetic lines.
Beauty is a relative concept. The shape, length and structure of the human face are quite variable. What is valuable is the harmony of these variable structures with each other that makes the face pleasant. No two noses are ever alike. That’s why there is no standard size of nice nose. With rhinoplasty, it is aimed to obtain a harmonious nose that is suitable for the person’s own face, compatible with his eyes and lips. Another valuable situation is; It is the expectation of the person who will have the surgery and the patient-doctor harmony. Determining the curved areas in the nose and explaining how to make a correction to the patient is a factor that increases the patient-surgeon harmony.
There are 2 basic surgical approaches in rhinoplasty, open and closed technique. The open technique is made by making an incision at the tip of the nose, in the area we call columella. Which technique will be used depends on the condition and area of the curvature in the nose, whether or not there is revision surgery, and the surgeon’s experience and preference.
Rhinoplasty generally takes between 1.5-3 hours. If there is a revision, that is, a history of nasal surgery, the duration of the process may be extended for about 1 more hour. Since cartilage and bone structures are reshaped in the surgery, plaster and corrugated silicone pads are placed in the nose outside the nose after the surgery. Tampons in 3-5 days, plaster in 7-10. day is removed. Swelling and partial bruising in and around the nose obviously disappear within 2 weeks. The nose takes its final shape in 6-12 months.
Those who have had rhinoplasty before can also have rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a reshaping surgery. For this, special suture techniques and cartilage modules are required. In revision surgeries, if sufficient cartilage module cannot be found, ear and rib cartilage can be removed.
