It is known that 70 million people worldwide are struggling with glaucoma, which causes permanent vision damage by causing damage to the optic nerve. Commenting on 12 March World Glaucoma Day, Prof. Dr. Nur Acar Göçgil also referred to the WHO data and underlined that this number will reach 111.8 million in 2040 unless measures are taken. Stating that everyone is at risk of catching glaucoma, Prof. Dr. Göçgil said, “It is necessary to raise awareness about the disease. Glaucoma is a disease that requires constant follow-up and treatment.” said.
