Babies in the womb may face anemia in some cases. Although the most common cause of this is due to blood incompatibility, this may also occur due to an infection in the baby (such as Parvovirus B-19 infection) or a genetic disorder in the blood cells. Regardless of the cause, anemia in the fetus can cause serious consequences.
