The increase in the fat ratio in our body is called obesity. If the body fat rate exceeds 20% in men and 30% in women, it is an indication that changes have begun in the body. Lubrication initially starts in the belly area, and as our belly gets fat, the secretion of some hormones changes. The increase in secretions increases belly fat, this vicious cycle continues increasingly. The liver is one of the organs most affected by our visceral fat.
Insulin is the leading hormone that makes belly fat. When we secrete too much insulin, it lowers our sugar and makes us feel more hungry, and when we eat too much, our belly fat increases. Another hormone that increases belly fat is the underactivity of our thyroid gland.
Cortisol hormone secreted from the adrenal gland, which increases in response to stress in our body, increases insulin resistance and blood sugar level. In cases where the cortisol hormone, which we call Cushing’s syndrome, is secreted excessively, belly fat, liver fat, facial and back fat can be observed. The biggest reason for weight gain in case of stress is the increase in the secretion of the hormone cortisol.
Increasing adipose tissue can act as a hormone-secreting gland and increase metabolic disorders in the body. The main hormones secreted from adipose tissue are called adipokines. adipokines; It includes hormones such as leptin, adiponectin, resistin, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-6, visfatin, apelin, adipsin, acylation stimulating protein, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, omentin, obestatin. Especially fat in the belly area can cause changes in these hormone levels. In particular, hormones such as Resistin, visfatin, omentin, obestatin, apelin further increase insulin resistance.
The effect of hormones should not be ignored in order to lose weight in a healthy way and to get rid of our belly fat. Before a healthy nutrition program, the level of our necessary hormones should be measured. Stay healthy.
