It is a skin disease that is localized especially around the mouth, has a chronic course, and causes acne-like rashes on a red background.

It’s not a contagious disease.

No association with systemic diseases

Its incidence in the community is 0.5-1%.

It is effective in the frequency of industrial development and geographical settlement of the country.

Although it is observed in children, it is more common in the 20-45 age group.

It is more common in women. Especially, 90% of adult patients are women.

Its incidence is increasing with the increase in the use of cosmetics, especially in men.

Why is unknown. It is known that many factors affect it. However, the most common reason is that long and uncontrolled use of cream group drugs containing cortisone can cause this disease.

The main symptoms are a burning sensation with tension. Itching is often absent or very mild.

The clinically known name of “Rosacea” is similar to Rose Disease.

It often settles around the mouth. The typical image is that the upper lip is not affected and there are no symptoms up to the 3-5 mm border of the lower lip.

Skin manifestations; It is the presence of small red bumps resembling acne on a red and sensitive skin. They may even have an underwater or inflamed appearance.

It can very rarely be located on the cheeks and lower eyelid.

Apart from this, it is observed in the external genitalia on the hand and in women, albeit very rarely.

It has a very rare clinical and visually severe form. This is defined as “Granulomatous perioral dermatitis”.

Causes that cause and increase Peroral Dermatitis;

  • Stress

  • Medicines; Uncontrolled and long-term use of moderate and strong cortisone-containing drugs (especially fluorunoid corticosteroids) around the mouth. Spray and inhaler group drugs containing cortisone drugs used for hay fever and asthma can increase it.

  • Intake of spicy food and alcohol that increase blood circulation in the face

  • cosmetics;

    • Fluorine toothpastes,

    • Moisturizing cosmetics containing paraffin and vaseline

    • Cosmetics containing isopropyl myristate

    • Use of moisturizing foundation containing these

    • Similar content sunscreens.
