Who goes to psychotherapy? Are sick people in need of therapy?

by clinic

Statements such as ‘you should go to therapy, you should see a psychologist’, which are said in a sarcastic tone, are manipulation statements that aim to make you feel negative by implying ‘you are sick’, ‘you have a problem’. Moreover, those who go to therapy are not sick or troubled people. They are people who have problems and dilemmas like everyone else and who want to solve these dilemmas in the healthiest way possible. People who are truly ill often do not seek therapy because they lack insight into their illness.

People who go to therapy aren’t just for problems, either;
– understand themselves
– Making the right decisions
– Choosing a suitable partner
– Healthy parenting
– Enrich your relationships
– Improving the quality of life
– They can also go to therapy to develop their potential.

We cannot say to the person who cleans his house ‘he cleans his house because it is dirty’, nor can we say to the person who goes to therapy ‘he goes to therapy because he is sick’. Cleaning your house is the importance given to cleanliness; Going to therapy shows the attention given to quality of life and psychological health.
