Conditions in which the normal curvature of the spine is impaired is called scoliosis. True bending and turning occurs in the spine. This bending of the spine can be in the form of ‘C’ or ‘S’. In advanced cases, depending on this change in the spine, the volume of the thorax decreases and complaints about breathing occur. It is a condition seen in 2% to 4% of the society. It is about 8 times more common in girls than boys.
IDIOPATIC SCOLIOSIS:
It is the most common breed. In addition to the correct bending of the spine, rotation of the vertebrae is also seen in all idiopathic scoliosis, including the mildest forms. An asymmetrical posture occurs in the waist and back.
NEUROMUSCULAR SCOLIOSIS:
In the middle of the main causes, muscle or border diseases can take place. Difficulty in breathing and sensory defects are more common in this type of scoliosis.
CONGENITAL SCOLIOSIS
It is a type of scoliosis that develops due to spinal anomalies that occur during the development of the child in the mother’s womb. It shows rapid progress. For this reason, it requires surgical intervention at a young age.
Symptoms:
Uneven shoulder, scapula, and pelvis bone when viewed from the outside
Seeing one of the hips higher
Observation of an unmistakable curvature of the spine to the side
Long-lasting neck, back and low back pain
Treatment:
In the treatment of scoliosis, treatment is applied according to the degree of curvature. For scoliosis in the middle of 10-20 degrees, specific scoliosis training (scroth-FITS SEAS), corset and training treatment at 20 degrees and above, and surgical evaluation at 40-45 degrees and above.
Schroth- 3D scoliosis training therapy includes rotational breathing, pelvic correction, core stabilization, correct positioning, appropriate mobilization, massage, stretch, symmetric awareness focused daily life activities.
In untreated scoliosis patients, low back and back pain, border damage, and various problems related to organs such as heart-lung in advanced periods occur.
