Brushing teeth

Proper brushing is the first step in maintaining the health of teeth and gums. It is necessary to brush every part of the mouth (upper right and left, lower right and left) with a straight brush for at least two minutes, twice a day, after breakfast and before going to bed.

What is calculus?
If the teeth are not brushed regularly every day, the food eaten accumulates on the teeth and the bacterial plaque that forms hardens and turns into tartar (calculus / tartar). This tartar can only be removed by dentists with special tools. Formed dental stones; Bleeding in the gums, gingivitis, gingival recession and tooth loss is the main cause of problems.

How to Choose the Right Toothbrush?

  • Although the choice of brush changes according to the needs of the person, choosing a brush that is small enough to reach every part of the teeth during brushing, neither too hard nor too soft, compatible with the mouth is the right choice.
  • Brushes with a tongue cleaner feature can also be ideal if needed. For an effective mouth and teeth cleaning, not only the teeth, but also the gums and tongue should be brushed. Cheek cleansers are also recommended, especially for people with gum or other oral problems.
  • The duration of use of the toothbrush should not exceed 2-3 months. Since the bristles of the brushes after this period will wear out, continuing to use them will prevent a good dental cleaning.

How Should Tooth Brushing Be?

  • It is enough to use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on the brush.
  • The toothbrush should be placed on the teeth at an angle of 45° with the brush tips facing the gums.
  • The brushing direction should be in a single movement from the gingiva to the teeth and sweep without pressing too much. This movement should also be applied on the inner surfaces of the teeth.
  • The chewing surfaces of the teeth can be cleaned with back and forth movements by holding the brush tip parallel to the teeth.
  • Brushing should continue for at least 2 minutes. Brushing for less than 2 minutes is unfortunately not effective.
