What is metabolic syndrome?

Metabolic syndrome is the name given to the coexistence of some conditions that increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases (such as stroke, heart attack and leg vein occlusion) and Type 2 (adult type) diabetes mellitus in a person. In order to say that a person has metabolic syndrome, at least three or more of the following conditions must be present in that person;

⚡️ Thickening of the waist circumference (90 cm and above for women, 100 cm and above for men for Turkish society)
⚡️High triglyceride levels (a type of fat in the blood)
⚡️High blood pressure
Low HDL cholesterol (known as good cholesterol)
⚡️High blood sugar level that is not at the level of diabetes (hidden sugar)
