What are the Symptoms of Brain Tumors?
Brain tumors are divided into primary and secondary.
Primary tumors that occur in the brain can be either malignant (malignant, cancerous) or benign (non-cancerous) tumors. Secondary brain tumors are seen when cancerous cells originating in another part of the body spread to the brain.
Brain tumors can occur in people of all ages, and the exact cause of these tumors is not known.
Brain tumor symptoms vary depending on the size of the tumor and in which part of the brain it is located, but the most common brain tumor symptoms are headache, numbness in the legs and arms, memory problems and balance problems.
Brain Tumor Types and Grades
Brain cells that age and lose their function in a normal functioning die and are replaced by new cells. However, sometimes this process is disrupted and new cells are produced even though the body does not need them, and the cells that should die continue to live.
All these excess cells begin to accumulate over time and form a tissue, causing a tumor. These cells that cause a primary brain tumor can be malignant (cancerous) or benign.
Benign tumors do not contain cancerous cells, but they can still be life-threatening because they are located in a sensitive area such as the brain.
Benign Brain Tumors: Non-cancerous brain tumors have a clearly visible border and usually do not spread to surrounding tissues.
Benign brain tumor removed by surgery rarely recurs. They are unlikely to spread to other parts of the body.
What makes a benign brain tumor, even if it is not cancerous, dangerous is that when it reaches a certain size, it causes serious health problems by pressing on sensitive areas of the brain. There is also a risk that a benign brain tumor will turn into a cancerous brain tumor over time.
Malignant Brain Tumor: Malignant brain tumors formed by cancerous cells grow faster than benign tumors and may invade nearby brain tissue.
Cancerous cells found in malignant brain tumor may leave the tumor and spread to other parts of the brain and spinal cord.
