What are the post-operative care instructions?
After surgery, you should rest in bed with your head positioned higher than your chest to reduce bleeding and swelling. Ice or cold packs should be applied to your nose for 12 hours after the surgery.
Your nose may be blocked due to swelling during surgery or the splints placed in your nose.
Internal dressings stay in place for two to four days after surgery. A splint is applied to your nose from the outside for protection and abutment. It is usually taken after a week.
Slight bleeding, mucus and drainage of old blood (clot) may occur a few days after surgery or after dressing removal.
You may have absorbable stitches, which means they will dissolve and do not need to be removed. If the stitches are not absorbable, you should see your doctor again one week after the surgery to remove the stitches.
In addition;
-
Sneeze through your mouth to avoid putting pressure on your nose
-
Avoid dusty or smoky places
-
Avoid strenuous activities and contact sports for 4 to 6 weeks
-
With the bandage on your nose, you can wash the rest of your face, hair and body.
-
Do not blow your nose for 2 weeks.
-
Do not wear glasses or sunglasses on your nose for at least four weeks after surgery. If necessary, tape the glasses to your forehead.

When outside, especially protect your nose from sun exposure. Too much sun can cause permanent discoloration of the skin of your nose.
Nose edema takes longer to resolve than facial edema. Limiting salt intake with the diet will help the swelling go away faster.
Edema and bruises after nose surgery 2-3. day reaches its maximum level, then it begins to dissolve rapidly. It is recommended that you contact your doctor if the edema and bruising increase again after decreasing.
Whether you have surgery or not, there will be changes in your nose due to aging throughout your life. Therefore, it is difficult to say when you have achieved your “final result”. However, edema and irregularities disappear in more than one year.
The person undergoing the operation may request a second operation in case of nose image and/or breathing problems during the post-operative period. A second surgery decision can be planned after your nose is completely beautiful. This improvement can take up to a year.
Follow-up care after rhinoplasty is valuable. Regardless of the complaint after rhinoplasty, it is strongly recommended that patients come under medical supervision at the 1st and 6th months.
