TREATMENT OF VARICOSE AND ADHESIVE
Today, in the treatment of varicose veins, it is aimed to remove the leaking vein, that is, to block it, which is the main problem in the formation of all varicose veins, with radiofrequency and laser under ultrasound. Recurrence of varicose veins is a common problem in the classical surgical method. In these techniques, the probability of recurrence of varicose veins is lower than in classical surgery.
If the leakage is 3 v3 4th degree and the vein diameter is more than 5 mm, the adhesive gives better results.
- Recently, in addition to laser and radiofrequency, cyanoacrylate material is applied to bond the leaky vein.
- Since this method is newer, there are limited studies on this subject. The advantage of the cyanoacrylate technique. In order to provide comfort to the patient and prevent high energy from damaging the surrounding tissues in radiofrequency and laser technique, the liquid containing anesthetic substance called tumescent anesthesia is given around the vein. This may cause distress for the patient for a while. In general, in some clinics, it is recommended that the patient sleep for one night.
- With cyanoacrylate, there is no need to do this. The patient can be discharged four hours after the procedure.
Results are just beginning to come in the cyanoacrylate technique.

- 128 patients were treated with cyanoacrylate and 116 patients were treated with radiofrequency technique.
- At the 1st, 3rd, 6th and 12th months, color Doppler ultrasound was used to determine whether there was complete occlusion of the vessel.
- At the end of the 12th month, 99.5% success was achieved in the cyanoacrylate group and full success in the radiofrequency group.
- Pain, ecchymosis (redness), skin burns and tenderness were less common in the cyanoacrylate group than in the radiofrequency group.
- The rate of such complaints; 12*29% in the radiofrequency group and 4.3-12% in the cyanoacrylate group.
- In my own personal experience, I can say that I have encountered a problem much lower than these rates.
- Cyanoacrylate can replace radiofrequency and laser in the near future and is advantageous for the patient.
- The fact that this study was conducted from our country is another pleasing issue.
