HEPATITIS

Hepatitis is the name given to inflammation of the liver. It is divided into acute and chronic. Acute cases have a new onset of 1-10 days. Chronic ones are states of illness that last longer than 6 months.

The most obvious symptom of hepatitis is weakness, in addition to this, jaundice, a vague pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, and itching may occur.
Factors causing hepatitis;

1) VIRUSES (A, B, C hepatitis viruses, of which B and C can become chronic and cause cirrhosis).
2) ALCOHOL
3) DRUGS
4) AUTOIMMUNE CAUSES
5) DISEASES OF THE BILE WAYS (PRIMARY BILILARY COLONGITIS)
6) FATTY LIVER FORM WITH INFLAMMATION ( NASH )
7) GENETIC DISEASES (WILSON cirrhosis, ALPHA 1, ANTIPRISIN DEFICIENCY)
Such reasons can be counted.
The diagnosis is mostly made by chance, when the liver function tests are detected during the examination for another reason.

For cause-oriented diagnosis; The patient’s viral markers, detailed liver function tests, autoimmune markers, abdominal ultrasound, liver elastography and, if necessary, liver biopsy are performed step by step.

When many cases of chronic hepatitis are detected at an early stage and treated for the cause, the patient is saved without cirrhosis. It is vital for patients who have symptoms such as weakness, itching, and jaundice, and who have abnormal liver function tests, to apply to a gastroenterology specialist without delay, in order to prevent complications such as cirrhosis and liver cancer that may occur in the future.
