by clinic

Lyubov Topkina, 72, living in Almaty, Kazakhstan, felt a large mass in her breast area in December. It was determined that Topkina, who had her examinations done without losing time, had breast cancer. Topkina, who did not want to have an operation in her country and was looking for a good doctor and a center, came to Turkey without wasting time. Memorial Antalya Oncology Center President Prof. Dr. Topkina, who met with Mustafa Özdoğan, was shocked to learn that there was also a mass in her kidney. Memorial Antalya Hospital General Surgery Department Head Prof. Dr. With the surgery performed by Alihan Gürkan, she got rid of the masses in both her breast and kidney and regained her health.

“I was born again”

Lyubov Topkina, who learned that she had a mass in her kidney after she came to Turkey, in addition to the mass she noticed in her breast while doing a self-examination, was quite shaken by these two news, one after the other. Stating that she was worried at first because her diagnosis and treatment coincided with the pandemic process, Lyubov Topkina said, “Both Mustafa Özdoğan and Alihan Gürkan relieved me a lot. I was also happy to see that every precaution was taken for the health and safety of patients in the hospital, and that all treatments were carried out meticulously.”

On the other hand, Topkina said that her surgery coincided with the day before her birthday, and that she received a very different gift this year with the following words: “I was very afraid of having the surgery, but I had the surgery the day before my birthday. As I entered, I asked Alihan Hoca to protect my kidney as a birthday present. I was reborn on my birthday, thanks to my doctor who only removed the masses by preserving the breast and kidney in a single operation”.

A second tumor may be encountered in advanced age.

Emphasizing that a second tumor focus is more common than previously thought, especially in elderly patients, Prof. Dr. Alihan Gürkan added; “The preoperative examinations suggested that a second focus could be seen in our patient or that this focus might be a metastasis. The second mass was a mass immediately adjacent to the kidney and looked like cancer on PET-CT. We removed it together with the mass in the breast. We performed the surgery without damaging both organs, especially protecting the breast and then the kidney. Since our patient is at an advanced age, the surgery we performed while preserving the organs gave him a great advantage. In addition, it is a great pleasure for us to save our patient from these life-threatening masses and to see his joy, as we promised on the day he was preparing to enter his new age”.
