The medicines of earthquake victims are provided free of charge by Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists at the field pharmacy in the tent city established by the Metropolitan Municipality in Defne, Hatay.
In the tent city established by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Defne, Hatay, pharmacy service is provided by Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists and the medicines of earthquake victims are provided free of charge. The materials in the pharmacy, which includes medicines, medical materials and hygienic products, are met by the pharmacists who are members of the chamber. Pharmacists, pharmacy students and pharmacy technicians who are members of the Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists, who go to the earthquake zone in groups, work voluntarily in the earthquake zone.
COOPERATION WITH CHAMBERS AND NGOs
After two major earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, consecutive earthquakes continue in Hatay, Malatya and Adıyaman. Kocaeli Metropolitan, which took action after the first earthquake on February 6, continues to work with all its teams, especially in Hatay Defne, in the 23 days that have passed. In cooperation with the chambers and NGOs in Kocaeli, the Metropolitan also ensures that aid reaches the region. The Turkish Pharmacists Association, which took action after the great earthquake disaster, also contacted the Pharmacist Chambers in the region from the moment of the earthquake. First of all, the number of pharmacies and their locations were determined in earthquake regions in order to prevent any interruption in the pharmaceutical service.
FROM THE CHAMBER OF PHARMACIES TO SAHRA PHARMACY
Negotiations were held between the Metropolitan and Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists for the establishment of a field pharmacy in the Defne district of Hatay, which was among the places most affected by the earthquake and was subsequently shaken by a 6.4 earthquake. The field pharmacy of Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists first started to serve in the tent in the garden of Necmi Asfuroğlu Anatolian High School, where the logistics center of the Metropolitan was established. After the work done in the tent here for 5 days, we moved to the tent city established by the Metropolitan Municipality. The Turkish Pharmacists Association also launched a campaign based on the need for medicines, medical supplies and hygienic products that may occur in the region.
DRUGS HAVE BEEN REACHED TO THE REGION
Members of Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists donated medicines to be given to patients damaged by the earthquake in the field pharmacy in the region. These drugs were delivered to the region through warehouses. The needs of the field pharmacy were also supplied from the warehouses by the Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists and sent with every team that went to the region. Medicines collected within AFAD and medicines brought to the room from patients were also classified, packaged and delivered to the region.
THEY DO VOLUNTEER DUTIES
In the tent city of Kocaeli Metropolitan, where the field pharmacy is located, patients are examined by volunteer doctors. Prescriptions issued to patients here are also provided free of charge from the field pharmacy of Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists. If the drugs used by the patients are not available in the pharmacy, they are supplied from the surrounding districts. Pharmacists, pharmacy students and pharmacy technicians working in the field pharmacy work on a voluntary basis. The first team of Kocaeli Chamber of Pharmacists works in the field pharmacy for 5 days and the other teams for 4 days. So far, 45 people have worked in the field pharmacy.
