Trigeminal neuralgia is a type of disease that is characterized by very severe pain, usually radiating from the front of the ear to the lower and upper jaws on one side of the face. It can last for a few seconds or minutes. It is too high to be described because of the pain. It impairs the person’s speech, chewing and eating functions. It makes it possible to take only liquid foods.
It can start spontaneously or it can start with stimuli such as wind, cold, heat, touch, combing hair.
It comes in the form of recurrent pain. The pain intervals may become more frequent.
Stress affects the disease negatively. Or pain may cause deterioration of the mental state of the person. In this case, mental treatment support should also be given.
Diagnosis can be made with the history taken from the patient. However, it should be checked whether there is a formation that will compress the trigeminal nerve in that area or not. In the vast majority of them, an organic cause cannot be determined. The cause of the disease is unknown.
Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture provides healing by showing a discharge effect on the nerve tissue in this disease due to its physiological effect on nerve endings.
An average of 15 sessions of application is required. Afterwards, a protective application is made once a month for 6 months.
