WHAT IS DRY NEEDLE TREATMENT?

The most important cause of musculoskeletal pain is muscle spasm. The duration of the treatment, that is, the number of sessions, depends on the width of the problem area, how old the problem is. It varies depending on whether it is accompanied by other ailments. Sometimes a single session is sufficient. It is most often planned as 3-5 sessions. In rare cases, it can be 8-10 sessions. The success in the treatment is quite high (92-95%) and the results are satisfactory. If there is fibrosis tissue development with spasm in recurrent or chronic pain, the number of needles and the frequency of needling should be increased. With this method, the needle inserted into the painful trigger points formed in the tense muscles It allows the points to dissolve and the muscle to return to its normal tension. In this respect, it differs from acupuncture treatment. In fact, the same method can also be applied with local anesthetic. The advantage of needling with local anesthetic is that it is less painless, whereas in dry needling, it has the advantage of being protected from drug side effects since no medication is given. It should not be forgotten that although the dry needling method alone can reduce and relieve pain, it must be combined with appropriate stretching exercises. Otherwise, the pain may recur. Also, if there is an underlying disease, it should be treated. In general, combining it with physical therapy allows us to get results in a more promising and short time.
