Giving information about the risk of brain hemorrhage in hot weather and points to be considered, Prof. Dr. Murat İmer said that extremely hot weather affects patients with high blood pressure the most.
Sudden and uncontrolled rise in blood pressure can cause cerebral hemorrhage, congenital vascular changes, use of anticoagulant drugs, some liver diseases, and high-dose alcohol use also cause this complication.
Symptoms such as severe headache, nausea, vomiting and loss of consciousness occur in cerebral hemorrhage. If this picture occurs in people with diabetes, atherosclerosis and high blood pressure, the patient should be taken to the hospital immediately, considering the possibility of cerebral hemorrhage.
Stating that hot weather increases the risk of cerebral hemorrhage, especially in blood pressure patients, Dr. İmer made the following recommendations:
“You should wear a hat or bandana to protect yourself from the direct effects of the sun. It should not be under the sun between 10:00 in the morning and 14:00 in the afternoon. Care should be taken not to starve and to eat a healthy and regular diet. Increasing water needs during the day should be met. Medications should be taken regularly. Blood pressure checks should be done more frequently.
