Effects of spinal cord paralysis

Tetraplegia: As a result of spinal cord injury from the neck, the movement of the arms, the feeling of the trunk, the movement of the legs are completely lost. The person has difficulty breathing and coughing. He can feel his face, neck, shoulders, hands, and arms, but cannot feel his torso and legs.

Paraplegia: Paraplegia is a type of paralysis that generally occurs due to injuries in the lower parts of the neck. Although the legs cannot be moved in paraplegia, it is considered in two categories according to the level of damage.

DOES THE SPINDLE HEAL AFTER INJURY?

Once the spinal cord is injured, it is not re-treated and does not grow back. If the spinal cord can survive the “spine shock”, some recovery may occur. Spinal shock occurs immediately after each spinal cord injury, the spinal cord stops working and the person cannot move. Spinal shock can last from a few hours to 6 weeks, and it is difficult to determine to what extent the spinal cord is damaged during this shock. If the swelling, bleeding and decay of the spinal cord ends, there may be some improvement, but healing usually takes place within the first 6 months of the spinal cord injury. If the spinal cord is not completely injured, a person may show signs of recovery up to 2 years after the injury, but the more time passes, the less chance of recovery. If the spinal cord has been injured by a disease or tumor, there is a possibility of complete recovery.
