The 2nd President of the Federation of Family Physicians Associations Dr. Yusuf Eryazğan, “Family physicians have been working in family medicine units of the whole country for 15 years; By following over 3.5 million infancy vaccinations and their follow-ups, it achieved vaccination rates exceeding 98. Family Physicians continue to be the pride of the health system with these achievements.”
Dr. Yusuf Eryazğan continued his words by saying, “While a baby was vaccinated 8 times in a family health center, this number reached 11 by adding 3 more vaccines. “Moreover, at the moment, 70 percent of the Covid19 vaccinations are done in family medicine. It is obvious that they make very important contributions to the future of the country by actively following up and following up 1.2 million pregnant women in our country. It should be accepted that the great reduction of maternal and infant mortality in the last 10 years is the success of Family Physicians.”
Dr. While drawing attention to all these health data, Eryazğan added that family physicians are the unseen heroes of health services for 1 year. “Family medicine units were the only health institutions that continued their outpatient clinics for 6 months while the polyclinics were closed. While the Family Physicians showed this outstanding effort, Covid-contact and positive patients applied to the outpatient clinics as well as to the hospitals. As AHEF, we want it to be noticed that the deficit of family health workers in family medicine units has increased by 400 in the last 3 years. It was also revealed in the Covid19 vaccinations that there is a lack of family health workers in every family health center, and that the system is about to be blocked. AHEF has repeatedly offered solutions on this issue. In addition to all these works, 5 months ago, the Ministry of Health transferred the vaccinations of the schools, which have been made by the District Health Directorates for 15 years, to family physicians. Now, the most important center in Covid19 vaccination, family medicine is shown.”
In the statement made on behalf of AHEF; It was pointed out that while family physicians have too much workload and pandemic warfare, the shortage of family health workers has reached 20’s across the country. While emphasizing that there are no midwife nurses to vaccinate in FHCs, it was also underlined that this situation could cause serious problems and that it is essential to eliminate the family health worker deficit.
