The Swiss Hero Group, which is the owner of the leading baby foods under the Hero Baby brand in Turkey and left behind 135 years, started 2021 by announcing that it purchased Canada’s leading organic baby food and snack brand Baby Gourmet, following its acquisitions in Germany in the past years.
Embracing the mission of presenting the goodness of nature to its consumers, Hero Group has been taking firm steps forward by adding new brands to its body recently. Announcing that it will maintain its leading position in the market with new company acquisitions, Hero Group plans to expand its global footprint with actions to be taken in different countries.
Hero Group, which acquired the world’s leading German organic baby food manufacturer Freche Freunde in the past years, turned its route to Baby Gourmet, Canada’s leading organic baby food brand, in January 2021. Founded by Jennifer Carlson and Jill Vos in 2005, the brand entered the market with organic baby food products in 2010 and expanded its range with cereal and plant-based snacks. The brand, which became the leading baby food producer in Canada in a short period of two years, decided to continue its journey in the sector with the Hero Group. In 2014, Baby Gourmet launched its products under the brand name Slammers Snacks across the USA.
Regarding the new development, Rob Versloot, CEO of Hero Group, said: “We are extremely happy to conclude the acquisition of Baby Gourmet positively, as well as to continue this success story with the founders of the brand in a strategic partnership model. This new merger fits perfectly with our mission to “protect nature’s well-being” and we aim to further expand our footprint in our largest category, the baby food market.
Jennifer Carlson, co-founder of Baby Gourment, said about the purchase; “As Canada’s leading organic baby food brand for 15 years, we are excited to launch our next phase of growth. We will continue to grow in line with our common values with the Hero Group.”
