Chemical peeling is the name given to the process of peeling the skin with different chemical substances. Chemical peelers, according to the depth level of the process; They are classified as superficial, medium and deep.
The most commonly used superficial chemical peeling agents are alpha hydroxy acids. Among these, glycolic and lactic acids are often preferred. In addition to these, there are different agents used for deeper peeling, such as trichloroacetic acid. Chemical peeling with repeated applications; It can reduce acne, wrinkles, blemishes, scars and stretch marks.
Although it is rarely seen in chemical peeling, irritant contact dermatitis may occur. Therefore, a very good history should be taken from the patient and the patient’s skin should be carefully examined before peeling.
The skin can be corrected by peeling at different depths for different problems. Depending on the severity of the problem, the number of sessions varies between 5-15. Sessions are applied once a week.
It is preferred to be applied in the winter period. Even on skin that has no problems, you can have a brighter skin with a few chemical peeling sessions to be applied every winter period.
Biopsies taken show that chemical peeling applications mature the collagen tissue, thus reducing the formation of superficial wrinkles.
Sessions are applied once a week for superficial peeling and between 15 days and 1 month for deeper peels.
