Chemical peeling, that is, chemical peels, is most often applied for cosmetic reasons such as spot, scar and wrinkle treatment. It is also used to lighten facial acne scars and treat acne.

Chemical peeling is used by applying a chemical solution to the skin, peeling the upper layer of the skin and improving and correcting the skin. According to the depth level of the process; classified as superficial, medium and deep. This classification is related to which layer of the skin the peeling method goes to.

Today, superficial and medium depth applications are made more frequently. Instead of deep peeling applications, laser peeling and dermabrasion methods are more preferred. While superficial peels can be applied at weekly intervals, moderate peels can be applied at intervals of 3-6 months. All chemical peeling applications have certain risks, which are rare. Chemical peeling must be applied by a specialist physician. The most commonly used substances in superficial peeling are alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), jessner’s solution and low concentration trichloroacetic acid (TCA). All these products have a peeling effect on the skin. Thus, cell renewal is accelerated. The top layer of the skin is peeled off, making the skin smooth.

If a vitamin A derivative, retinoic acid cream or low concentrations of AHA creams or washing gels are used before peeling and between sessions, it increases the effectiveness of peelings. In addition to these products, stain removal creams are added to those who are treated for stains. Chemical peeling can be applied in the office environment. It does not require operating room conditions.

It creates only a slight stinging feeling during superficial peeling applications. Does not require anesthesia. With superficial peeling, temporary redness, crusting and dryness do not prevent daily life and working life. After a regular peeling treatment, the skin becomes more vibrant and bright. Sunscreen cream should be used in daily skin care after the treatment and between sessions.

Treatment areas are kept cool (eg soothing water sprays)

Shells should not be removed. There may be traces.

Light moisturizers are used after superficial peeling, and intense moisturizers are used after deep peeling.

It should be protected from the sun for at least 6 months.

Retinoic acid, AHA or hydroquinone can be used at night if recommended.

After superficial peeling, a healthier and more vibrant skin appearance occurs. As the treatment continues, the structure of the skin becomes healthier.
