Current evaluation of fibromyalgia disease

by clinic

Although I have been dealing with inflammatory rheumatic diseases in my profession, there are many diseases that are confused with these diseases. Among them, Fibromyalgia has an important place. The disease, which is known as muscle rheumatism among the people, really affects the life of the person very badly. It is also known as burnout syndrome because it makes the patient feel like exhausted.

WHO HAS IT FREQUENTLY?

Although the disease can be seen in all genders and in a wide age range, it is generally seen in young female patients. However, I would like to remind you that there are 15-year-old and 85-year-old patients.

WHAT IS THE REASON?

Fibromyalgia can actually accompany many chronic diseases, especially rheumatic diseases. However, it is more common in people who do not have any disease or even have a better economic situation. As you can imagine, stress and psychological state are the main causes of the disease. Apart from this, seasonal changes are one of the most important findings in psychological traumas.

WHAT ARE THE COMPLAINTS OF THE PATIENTS?

Patients present with widespread pain. As far as I can see, patients have pain all over the place, from hair to toe. But the pain is a little more concentrated in the back. Often the patient cannot make sense of this pain. Another finding accompanying widespread pain is insomnia, depressive mood, and constipation. The most common symptom I see is insomnia. Almost all of the patients answer this question as yes, I have extreme insomnia.

IS IT A TREATABLE DISEASE?

Yes, there are medications that most patients are satisfied with in the treatment of fibromyalgia. However, in the main treatment of fibromyalgia, in my opinion, psychological support and mind-relieving sports or other activities are of great importance. I always tell the patient to take time for yourself, when you are alone, and then do something for yourself. For example, go out and walk 3 days a week. But I advise you to do this every summer and winter, as a way of giving up. I see great improvement in my patients who do this. In patients who do not, both the drug response and the reduction in the general pain levels of the patients are insufficient.

As a result, fibromyalgia often catches up when people are most productive. It greatly affects your daily life. He watches with pains that he cannot understand. However, it is a treatable disease with both drug and non-drug methods.
