Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) Rectorate held a press conference regarding the construction process of Aliağa Occupational and Environmental Diseases Hospital, which was transferred to DEU. Dokuz Eylul University (DEU), which successfully carries out its social service task in addition to teaching and research and development activities, held a press conference on the construction process of Aliağa Occupational and Environmental Diseases Hospital, which was transferred to DEU by the decision of the Aliağa Municipal Council. To the meeting held at the Rectorate Building in Alsancak; DEU Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ugur Malayoglu, Prof. Dr. Esra Bukova Güzel, Prof.Dr. Fatma Duygu Özel Demiralp, DEU Secretary General Engin Basmacı, DEU Strategy Development Department Head V. Meral Işıkçı and Construction and Technical Department Head V. İbrahim Hakkı Özdemir attended.

IT IS PROJECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN 15 MONTHS

Making statements about Aliağa Occupational and Environmental Diseases Hospital, the foundation of which was laid on March 19, 2019, Dokuz Eylül University Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar noted that the project is aimed to be completed within 15 months. Rector Hotar, who heralded that the region will soon have a pilot hospital that will set an example in local and international standards, said, “Our goal is to complete our project in the time we have specified and to enable both our district and our region to benefit from tertiary health services. We envisaged the need for a hospital specialized in occupational accidents and diseases in Aliağa, where there are important industrial enterprises for our country’s and regional economy. Investing at this point, our University has implemented the hospital project in line with the demands and expectations of our business world.”

CALL FOR DONATIONS

Another feature of Aliağa Occupational and Environmental Diseases Hospital; Emphasizing that it is the first hospital in Turkey to be designed for occupational diseases, Rector Hotar said, “We are trying to strengthen our academic, physical and technical infrastructure. In this process, we received the necessary support from our state. When our hospital is completed, we aim to respond to an important need regarding occupational diseases and work accidents. We also care about the support and donations to our hospital. We invite our benefactors to donate to our hospital. Rector Hotar, who added that the lists of equipment and devices to be used in the hospital have been prepared, said, “We can speed up the donation process in any subject allowed by the legislation. This investment will also strengthen our research university’s mission in the field of health; It will expand the field of activity of our academic structures such as DETTO and Bioİzmir, especially DEPARK.”

HYPERBARIC UNIT IS ALSO INCLUDED

Rector Hotar, who said that the Hyperbaric Unit, which is important for the workers who have to work meters under the sea during shipbreaking, will be opened within the hospital, said, “Our hospital includes an emergency room, intensive care service, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, operating rooms, There will be many units such as patient rooms, polyclinics, pharmacy unit and dialysis area. All these will serve to reduce losses in possible work accidents that we do not want to happen. Our hospital also has the feature of being a research center for our academicians; accelerating diagnosis, diagnosis and treatment; It will also enable studies such as different treatment methods to be carried out. I wish our hospital to be beneficial for both our beautiful city Izmir and our country in advance.”

200-BED PROJECT

Making a technical presentation about the hospital at the meeting, DEU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Uğur Malayoğlu, on the other hand, said that the hospital is planned to have 200 beds. Stating that the project will rise in a closed area of ​​approximately 52 thousand square meters, consisting of three blocks and eight floors, Malayoğlu said, “As our country’s brand in the field of health, we host important investments in this field. With the budget approved by the Presidency Strategy and Budget Department for the project included in the 2022 investment program, we are starting a new process regarding the hospital. We aim to complete our project in a short time, which will bring a breath of fresh air to Aliağa, which is located on the development axis of İzmir, and to the region. We would like to thank our members, especially our Rector, and the people and institutions who contributed to this process.”
