GENERAL FIRST AID INFORMATION
- What is First Aid?

- What is the Difference Between First Aid and Emergency Treatment?
- Emergency treatment; It is made by using all kinds of advanced techniques and drugs made by the experts of the job.
- First aid ; It is a life-saving intervention performed by anyone who has received training on this subject, using the materials they can find at the scene.
- Who is First Aid?
- In line with the purpose specified in the first aid definition;
- With available tools and equipment to the sick or injured
- drug-free practices
- They are people who have received first aid training.
- What Are the Primary Objectives of the First Aid?

- Characteristics of the First Aid
- Must have basic knowledge of the human body

- Must have sufficient knowledge and skills and must constantly renew them
- Must keep in shape to give the best first aid
- If the first aider is not a healthcare professional, they should not act like a healthcare professional. They should not go beyond their own duties and powers.
- First, he must ensure the safety of himself and his surroundings.
- If it has to intervene with a large number of patients / injured, it should not make any discrimination other than priorities.
- Must be responsible for the belongings entrusted to him/her by the patient/injured
- He should not expect financial gain in return for his service.
- It should give a sense of security and peace to the patient/injured and the environment.
- The patient should monitor the injured and not leave them alone until the task is completed.

Protect, Notify, Rescue
( KBK )
is expressed as
- 1) Protection
- Evaluate the crime scene to prevent aggravating the consequences of the accident or the occurrence of other accidents
- Establishing a safe environment by identifying the hazards that may occur at the scene
- Keeping persons without first aid training away from the scene
- Do not allow unconscious interventions.
- 2) Notify
- Incident / accident should be reported as quickly as possible via telephone to 112, who has a free phone line.
- What to Consider While Calling 112
- keep calm
- Clear and meaningful answers should be given to the questions asked by the 112 center;
- While giving the exact location and address information, the name of a street close to the event or a well-known place should be given,
- Introduce yourself and give your phone number if requested
- The name of the patient/injured(s) and the event should be described,
- The number and status of the sick/injured should be reported,
- If any first aid application has been made, it should be stated what kind of help was given,
- The instructions given by the health personnel on the 112 line must be followed.
- The phone should be turned off until the health personnel receiving information on the 112 line says that they have received all the necessary information.
- 3) Rescue (Intervention)
- Intervention to the sick/injured at the scene is a quick but calm and confident first aid.
- What First Aid Should Do About Intervention
- Rapidly assess the condition of the sick/injured (ABC) and identify priority interventions
- It should relieve the patient/injured’s fears and anxieties and calm them down.
- He should direct and organize the people around him correctly.
- Making necessary interventions to the patient / injured by using his knowledge
- Fixing in place in the presence of broken bone
- Keeping the sick/injured warm
- Not allowing the patient/injured to see their wound
- To intervene without moving the patient / injured person (if it is very necessary, it can be moved with the least damage) (However, a seriously ill / injured person should never be moved unless life is in danger.)
- To ensure the transfer of the patient / injured person to the nearest health institution with the most appropriate methods (112)

- What is the Life-Saving Chain?
- The life-saving chain consists of 4 links. The last two rings belong to advanced life support and are not the task of the first aider.
- 1. Ring – Notify 112
- 2nd Ring – Basic Life Support at the scene
- 3. Ring – Interventions by 112 Ambulance teams
- 4.Ring – Hospital emergency services
- ABC of First Aid;
