“Discomfort Arose AFTER ENDOSCOPY”
Fatime Sağlam, who stated that he had stomach complaints as a result of using a pain reliever 2 years ago, said, “The doctor I went to gave me a medicine in the form of a syrup with a stomach protector. He told me to have an endoscopy, but I was afraid of this procedure. I stopped having this procedure because I was afraid. When I saw the benefits of the drugs I forgot about the disease as I did not have any complaints for 2 years. My complaints were bloating, nausea, indigestion and a feeling as if something was stuck in my throat. We went to the doctor after that. The doctor first examined it with ultrasound, then it was decided to endoscopy. Endoscopy “I recommend that people who have such problems not be afraid of endoscopy. After this discomfort, I underwent endoscopy twice, I did not have any problems. I recommend everyone to have regular endoscopy,” he said.
Yeditepe University Koşuyolu Hospital General Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Kayaalp said, “When Fatime Hanım came to us, she had stomach complaints. These types of patients may have very general complaints such as flatulence, nausea, indigestion, belching. Stomach tumors do not have a clear complaint. ” .
ATTENTION AFTER 50 YEARS
Stating that everyone over the age of 50 should have regular endoscopy, Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Kayaalp said, “Because there is a risk of gastric tumor after the age of 50. People with complaints under the age of 50 should also have an endoscopy. Even if there is no endoscopy, I recommend you to have an endoscopy, especially if you have such stomach tumors in your family, then you should definitely have it done. With the closed surgery we perform in the treatment of stomach tumors, a large part of the stomach is removed. After a large part of the stomach is removed, we make a new stomach from the intestines so that our patient can eat again. It allows him to eat easily,” he said.
Underlining that the lymph nodes between the branches of the carotid artery should be removed in closed operations of gastric cancer, Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Kayaalp said, “These lymph nodes can be successfully removed by laparoscopy in experienced hands.”
“DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR EXAMINATIONS FOR FEAR OF CORONAVIRUS”
Stating that they encountered cases of gastric cancer in men in Turkey, especially in Eastern Anatolia and Central Anatolia, Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Kayaalp said, “Since it is common over the age of 50, we recommend endoscopy after this age. If we do endoscopy intermittently for people under 50 years of age, we do not need to worry too much about stomach tumors. We have a chance to diagnose the disease at an early stage and return the patients to their old lives. “There is a delay in the diagnosis of tumors because of this. This will cause you to encounter tumors in advanced stages. However, colonoscopy and endoscopy should be done on time.” warned.
