Herniated disc surgery with laser (nucleoplasty)

by clinic

Non-surgical lumbar hernia treatment with laser is performed without harming the patient, cutting the skin, touching nerves, bones and veins. Laser energy, which is delivered to the worn disc joint between the spine bones with the help of special needles, vaporizes a part of the joint.

As in herniated disc surgery, a significant part of the joint is not removed. Even a very small volume reduction created in the joint with the laser causes a significant reduction in pressure, resulting in the disappearance of low back pain and sciatic pain.

On the one hand, to carry the laser energy into the worn and herniated disc joint without damaging the important nerve tissues and other tissues around, on the one hand, to carry out the procedure with a very thin micro fiber optic catheter, on the other hand, continuously during the procedure, our instruments we have to do radiological checks to know its exact location.

The special fiber rods we use to deliver the laser energy into the disc joint are less than half a millimeter thin and 400 micrometer in diameter. Naturally, when applying this procedure, 4-5 cm. or 1.5-2 cm as in the microsurgery method. We do not need skin incisions in size.

We deliver the laser catheter with a radius of a millimeter to its place with the help of a very thin needle and without cutting the skin. The treatment of lumbar hernias with laser does not require hospitalization, the patient returns home half an hour to an hour after the procedure.

We recommend that our patients, who do not mind returning to their normal work a few hours after the procedure, should not engage in activities such as heavy lifting, leaning forward, and not do sports for a few weeks. Although pain relief is usually detected immediately after the procedure, hernia shrinkage may take several weeks to reveal full and permanent results.
