Holistic dentistry

Generally, the aim of traditional dentistry is to make various dental restorations and make them look beautiful in order to relieve tooth pain, keep the tooth or prosthesis in the mouth, fulfill the missing chewing function. Today, technique and mastery are more prominent in this profession.

However, dentistry is not just that. Dentistry is part of medicine. The aim of dentists with a holistic point of view is not only to perform local treatments, but to regulate the whole organism with its own power, that is, to provide self-healing.

Dentists are extremely adept at treating and restoring teeth. However, they do not pay much attention to which dynamics in the body cause dental caries, gum diseases or jaw joint diseases. They are more interested in relieving pain than dental.

The same is true for medical doctors. A physical therapist does physical therapy exercises or heat treatment to relieve neck pain, that is, deals with pain relief. However, many neck pains occur due to a disorder in the jaw joint. Or shoulder pain could be caused by gallbladder problems.

The body is not just a heart, not just a tooth, not just a muscle or just a nerve. No organ is isolated from the other. Everything is affected by each other. I know that many medical practitioners who practice complementary medicine, when they refer the patient to the dentist for the correction of the problems in the teeth (impairing area), which they think are the cause of the disease, are faced with the resistance of the dentists that there is no problem that requires treatment in the teeth of the patient. Even though patients sometimes make a timing connection, dentists say that dental treatment does not cause these problems.

However, when patients referred by holistic medicine physicians come to a holistic dentist, they may not have any dental pain, but they may have pain or complaints in another part of their body. A holistic dentist is concerned with previous dental treatments and when the pain begins, which leads patients to refer to a holistic medicine practitioner. It can be seen that the pain and/or other complaints of the patient treated with this point of view, sometimes with a tooth extraction and sometimes with a stressful material change in the mouth, go away.

This is a different perspective in dentistry. Teeth are not a separate part of the body and do not exist in space. They are an important part of the body and greatly affect bodily functions. Dentists work on this important part of the body. Any problem in a tooth can affect another distant part of the body. At the same time, the mouth and teeth

affected by other organs and systems.

While doing dental treatment, it is necessary to consider all the functions of the organism. For example, chronic pain in the knee may be caused by an impairing area in the mouth and dental system, while pain in the tooth that the dentist cannot understand may be due to a piercing. Or, a properly made occlusion plate can end pain or tinnitus in the head, neck, and lower back. After the extraction of a cystic tooth, the patient’s shoulder pain may pass. After making a bridge to the patient, the patient’s low back pain can pass. Or, after replacing an old filling with a different type of filling, the patient’s allergy may go away.

So Is This A Miracle? No, it’s not a miracle!!! Every correct treatment is conducive to the regulation of the disturbed impulses in the nervous system and the reduction of destruction products in the connective tissue, giving the body an opportunity to heal itself.

What are the negativities that we dentists cause unknowingly? Headache, tinnitus, neck pain, lower back

pain, various aches in the body, allergies, tension, stress, feeling of fatigue, etc.

So how does this two-sided interaction happen? Nerves, lymphatic flow, blood flow, connective tissue in teeth and gums play a central role affecting the whole body. On the other hand, it is also affected by all body problems.
