60-80% of adults suffer from low back pain at least once in their lifetime. 70-80% of acute low back pain can be cured without any treatment. Or with simple treatments (such as ftr, massage, ozonotherapy, laser, prolotherapy, acupuncture). 15-20% persist and become chronic despite medical treatment.
Minimally invasive techniques for low back pain are very popular today. As much as possible, simpler procedures that do not require anesthesia and interventions that allow the patient to recover faster and return to normal life more quickly are preferred. Among these, popular methods include interventional pain injections, laser nucleoplasty, ozone therapy stem cell therapy, radiofrequency, percutaneous laser disc decompression, etc.
Hydrodiscectomy is the most recent and successfully applied method in America and Europe. The main advantages of hydrodiscectomy over other laser discectomy are the absence of heat-related complications, the complete removal of the ruptured parts by aspiration using salt water, and the fact that the tip of the catheter can be seen very clearly in hydrodiscectomy, although the laser tip is sometimes not clearly visible in the image.
WHO IT CAN APPLY TO
It can be easily applied if there is a ruptured hernia, a hernia that causes leg pain, if there is a disc that causes pressure or an extruded disc, which we call prtrude or overflow, diagnosed with lumbar hernia. If we say that it is not applied to those who have bleeding disease, hernia has become a bone, calcified patients, it is not applied to patients with narrowed spine bones. There is no age limit.
HOW TO DO
The most important advantage is that it can be done under local anesthesia. In the operating room, under sterile conditions but under imaging, the disc distance is entered to the patient and in protruded hernias, including ruptured hernias, the ruptured disc fragments are removed with an aspirator after the pressure saline. After the procedure, the patient stays in the hospital for 1 hour and can return to work the same day and continue his normal life.
