“Innovative Approaches on the Road to Success in International Nursing Symposium” was held at EU
Ege University (EU) Faculty of Nursing organized the “International Symposium on Innovative Approaches on the Road to Success in Nursing”. EÜ Faculty of Nursing Dean Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Dönmez, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine Nursing Department. Dr. Serap Özer, academicians from Turkey and abroad, students and nurses working in hospitals attended. The symposium was held with the aim of raising awareness for nurses to develop innovation practices in their professions and deliver them to the society so that they can be competent as caregivers, decision makers, communicators, community leaders and managers.
Speaking at the opening of the symposium, Dean Prof. Dr. Dönmez emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation with the words “Everyone thinks, even 100 people think, one person realizes it, and 99 people say I thought so.” I said, ‘Let’s identify people who are masters or work in this way and create good products by creating an academic network inside and outside’. We are proud of being a faculty that contributes to our university, which is a research university, in many parameters. We all witness that we have made an important contribution to research university parameters in 2022. In our symposium, we will discuss the innovative journey from idea to action, patenting processes, innovation in nursing education and innovation in the international arena, policy innovation from local to global, with different dimensions. I believe that it will be a meeting where useful scientific information will be shared, and I would like to thank those who put a lot of effort in this context.”
“Innovation is imperative in the nursing profession”
Symposium President Assoc. Dr. Serap Özer said, “Today, innovation is imperative in the nursing profession, as in every field. Because, with the changes in the field of practice in nursing, as well as in the fields of education, training and research, the expectations of the service recipients have increased, the need to adapt to the rapidly developing information and technology has arisen, and the global competition and health care service costs have also increased. When considered in terms of innovation, practices and care in nursing, it includes practices that enable the development of new ideas, methods and tools to meet the needs of patients, to meet the needs of teachers and students from an educational perspective, to reduce all kinds of service costs and to increase productivity. Change is necessary and inevitable, as stated by Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of our profession. Instead of adapting to life, let’s change it. In the process we set out in this direction; As Ege University Faculty of Nursing Entrepreneurship Working Group, we organized the International Symposium on Innovative Approaches on the Road to Success in Nursing. Within the scope of our symposium, with two conferences and two panels, attention will be drawn to the innovative journey adventure that starts with a good idea and imagination, but goes far beyond that.”
After the opening speeches, presentations were made at the symposium by experts in their fields.
