Underlining that some heart rhythm disorders can cause fatal situations such as heart attack, stroke, organ failure, Uzm. Dr. Yusuf Altınkaynak said, “It is very important to be diagnosed and treated thanks to routine heart examinations by a cardiologist who is an expert in his field.”
MAY CAUSE DEFECTS IN HEART FUNCTION
Cardiac arrhythmia is a condition in which the heartbeat is irregular due to dysfunctions of the nerve signals transmitted to the heart muscle. This condition is referred to as arrhythmia. Early detection of arrhythmia, investigation of underlying causes and appropriate treatment reduce the risk of heart failure, stroke and death.
In healthy individuals, the heartbeat continues in a certain rhythm and the blood circulation is provided normally. However, in the case of arrhythmia, abnormal heart rhythms cause a malfunction in the heart’s blood pumping function.
There are different types of arrhythmia categorized according to the course.
Tachycardia is a heart rate higher than 90 beats per minute. Heart rate may increase in stress, thyroid diseases, anemia, exercise, and some heart and non-cardiac diseases.
Arrhythmia is a heart rhythm disorder. Heart failure if left untreated. Conditions such as heart attack, stroke and sudden death may occur. Due to the increase in the working rate of the heart in tachycardia patients, symptoms of feeling their own heartbeat, fatigue, heart pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, stupor, and low blood pressure may occur as a result of the decrease in the function of the heart to pump blood to the body.
Bradycardia refers to a lower than normal heart rate. While the normal heart rate is in the range of 60-90 in 1 minute, the heart rate of bradycardia patients falls below 60 in 1 minute. Because of bradycardia, the heart may not be able to pump the blood it needs to the brain and other organs. For this reason, if the heart rate is often below 60, it is necessary to be examined by a cardiologist.
Ventricular Fibrillation is a type of arrhythmia that requires immediate intervention, which is caused by the loss of contraction functions of the lower chambers of the heart and prevents the blood from reaching vital organs with a high risk of immediate death. Immediate treatment of ventricular fibrillation, which can cause sudden unconsciousness and death, is vital.
Atrial Fibrillation is a common arrhythmia problem that affects the upper chambers of the heart and causes disruption of normal blood flow. Atrial fibrillation, which progresses with the deterioration of the passage of blood to the lower chambers, can affect the blood circulation of the whole body, causing heart failure, and the formation of clots in the heart, which can lead to fatal consequences.
Atrial Flutter is an arrhythmia problem that affects the upper parts of the heart. Life-threatening consequences may occur due to the synchronization disorder caused by atrial flutter, in which the upper parts of the heart beat much faster than the lower parts.
ARRHYTHMIA AND CONSEQUENTIAL SEVERE POSITIONS CAN BE AVOIDED BY EARLY DIAGNOSIS
Arrhythmias can cause fatal situations such as heart attack, stroke, organ failure in the process. For this reason, it is very important to be diagnosed and treated through routine heart examinations by a cardiologist. In the treatment of arrhythmias, only drug therapy can be applied in line with the directions of your physician, as well as solutions such as electrical procedures, open or closed surgical interventions, current regulating devices placed in the heart, or pacemakers. Thanks to the early diagnosis of arrhythmia and the treatments applied, it is possible to protect heart health and reduce negative consequences such as heart failure, heart attack, and stroke.
