NON-SURGERY TREATMENT OF THYROID NODULES
Percutaneous Alcohol Injections (PEE)

High Intensity Focused Ultrasonic Sound Wave Therapy (HIFU)
Percutaneous Alcohol injection therapy is an effective alternative to surgery in the treatment of cystic nodules. The procedure can be applied under ultrasound guidance in outpatient clinic conditions. First of all, after the fluid in the cystic nodule is drained, the appropriate amount of pure alcohol is injected into the nodule. It is a very successful and easy treatment method in cystic nodules. After the procedure, the volume of the nodules is reduced by 50% or more.
Radiofrequency ablation therapy is used for volume reduction in solid nodules. Radiofrequency energy transfer is made through the catheters placed in the nodule under the guidance of USG, and thus the nodule volume is reduced.
In Thyroid Laser Ablation Treatment, the center of the nodule is entered under ultrasound guidance with a thyroid biopsy needle of appropriate size and thin laser fibers are placed into the nodule through this route. Then, laser energy is transmitted into the nodule with these fibers. Thermal ablation is provided in the thyroid nodules with the heat generated by the laser energy. In patients treated with this method, 50-80% reduction in nodule volume occurs after a one-year follow-up. The procedure is a short-term procedure that can be applied in outpatient conditions. It does not contain any serious complications.
