NON-SURGERY TREATMENT OF INITIAL lumbar hernia:
The cartilage between the vertebrae has slipped from its place, but it has not torn the surrounding capsule. There is mild pressure on the nerves coming to the spinal cord or legs. The patient complains of low back pain. Pain may be unilateral or bilateral. There is no loss of strength or loss of reflexes in the feet.
If the patient only has leg pain and other symptoms are not observed, open surgery is generally not preferred. It would be right to prefer other treatment methods. However, if the pain of the patient, who is treated for an average of 45 days, does not decrease, the decision to operate can be made because of “leg pain only”. The important thing is to use all possible treatment possibilities of the patient without surgery. If the patient does not improve despite everything, of course, surgery will be required.
WHAT IS THE NON-SURGERY 100-DAY TREATMENT OF ADVANCED lumbar hernia?
Until the last 4-5 years, it was thought that the treatment of advanced lumbar hernia could only be possible with SURGERY. However, different ideas have been put forward on this subject recently. It is possible to apply non-surgical treatments under DOCTOR CONTROL, if the cartilage tissue that breaks off into the spinal canal is not very large and the patient does not have loss of strength or urinary defect. Because our body has the power to dissolve-destroy all or a part of the cartilage that goes into the spinal canal in an average of 100 days. This feature varies from person to person. Recovery can be seen more clearly in people with high body resistance, that is, with a high immune system.
Since the piece of cartilage that goes into the spinal canal is in a place where it shouldn’t be, it is treated as a foreign substance by the body and the body tries to destroy this substance with all its might, just like a microbe.
This is a very sensitive subject. You cannot decide on your own. Only an experienced neurosurgeon can make this decision.
For this decision, the size of the cartilage coming out of the spinal canal, the presence and degree of damage left on you, your pain condition, the place where the cartilage piece is placed, etc. each should be evaluated separately. An experienced neurosurgeon can decide on the basis of his own experience whether this type of hernia can be healed or not. However, a doctor who does not want to spend too much time on the patient and does not want to take responsibility can choose the easiest and shortest way, namely the way of performing surgery.
During this treatment, you must be under the control of the doctor. And it requires close follow-up.
As a result of smart treatments and conscious follow-up that will be applied within 100 days, which is very important for the patient, most of our patients are saved from surgery.
100 DAILY TREATMENT
Medical ozone therapy+Medical leech therapy+Magnetic field therapy and Stem cell therapy are planned for the patient. 10 sessions are applied, 2 days a week. Hernia treatment methods are non-surgical. Treatment takes 5 weeks in total. In addition, treatment is performed with stem cells obtained from blood twice, with an interval of 3 weeks. During the treatment, the patient should be followed very closely by the doctor. In the event that the examination findings progress during the treatment process, the treatment may be discontinued and surgery may be recommended. Purpose of treatment: To increase the immune power of the body and to ensure that the piece of cartilage that falls into the spinal canal is melted by the body’s immune system. In patients with a strong immune system, almost all of the cartilage can be melted and destroyed. During the treatment, if the patient’s pain decreases regularly and his complaints continue to pass, he can regain his old health after an average of 100 days.
TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR PATIENTS COMING FROM OUT OF CITY
We start treatment on Mondays for our patients coming from out of town. We are treating for a total of 5 days until Friday. Our patient is staying in Denizli for 4 nights. During this period, we apply 5 sessions of ozone therapy, 3 sessions of leech therapy and one session of stem cell (CGF) therapy. If necessary, we add manual therapy sessions to the treatment.
WHY ARE WE FEAR OF SURGERY?
In the follow-ups of patients after herniated disc surgery, hernia recurred in nearly half of the patients within 10 years. The treatment of recurrent lumbar hernia is not easy.
First of all, I would like to say that lumbar hernia surgeries performed for the second time were performed under difficult and adverse conditions. Due to the adhesion of the nerve tissue around and the change in the anatomical structure of the region after the first surgery, many complications may occur in the second surgery, from rupture of the nerve sheath to rupture of the nerve. In some cases, if adhesions have occurred at the surgical site, it is even more difficult to treat. In my professional life, I have seen patients who have been operated on for herniated disc 8 times and still have not recovered.
For this reason, I make the decision of surgery for herniated disc very difficult, so to speak, with meticulous attention to detail. I recommend this to all my doctor friends.
MEDICAL THERAPY OF lumbar hernia
Herniated disc is a mechanical event. In other words, the cartilage between the vertebrae has been displaced and has spread to a place where it should not be. Here, 10-15 cm from our back. Unfortunately, there is no drug that can affect this cartilage shift that occurs in the depth and moreover the spinal canal. In other words, there is NO MEDICINE for lumbar hernia, as is thought among the people. The drugs given to herniated disc are given only to relieve pain and to solve the edema that may occur in the nerve. Their effect on the main mechanism is zero. You take painkillers and it will relieve your pain for up to 8 hours. Muscle relaxant drugs (I say with confidence in my experience) are of no importance. It has no effect on the healing of the hernia. Cortisone-containing drugs are also given to patients with lumbar hernia to relieve edema that occurs in the nerve and causes pain. In some cases, warming creams are given. These creams are applied to the waist area. These act to temporarily reduce the feeling of pain by increasing the blood flow in that area.
**Attention: All kinds of creams, patches, trout dissolved in oil, etc. used in patients with lumbar hernia. **
** Massage and spas applied to the lumbar region have no therapeutic effect on hernia. Again, these are applications to reduce the pain, which is a symptom of the disease, for a few hours. They are not a treatment**
