PARENTS:
Parents experience stress during the adaptation process to school and this is reflected in the children. Parents should not reflect their own anxiety to their children, and they should not even experience this themselves, so that the environment should not be tense and anxious psychologically.
Parents should not overestimate the school start event and should not attribute a special meaning to it. In this case, if there is an exaggeration, the child receives the message that he will go to an environment where he can be worried.
If possible, school-related shopping should be done in parts without being compressed into a few days. The child should adopt it gradually. My daughter / son will start school this year, let’s see what we will do? Spouses, friends and relatives should not be spoken to in front of the child by making sentences in the form of. Or one should not exaggerate the situation by saying “he has grown up, he will go to school now, we bought new pencils and erasers”.
If there is a friend with whom he has met before on the first day of school, it would be beneficial for them to go together. Apart from that, the parents of the children who are certain to be in the same class can bring their children together in a playground by cooperating.
Children should pay attention to sleep hours, ensure that they get enough sleep and rest, and protect their children from stress and tension.
Participating in the training programs in schools – primary schools, the first class starts education one week before – it will be more comfortable to get used to the school in a calmer way, without the school becoming overcrowded.
TEACHERS:
Teachers should show closeness and sincerity to children, and be affectionate.
They should start the new academic year as well rested and free from stress and problems.
They should take into account the reactions and behaviors of children and should feel ready for any situation.
Teachers should be competent to present very good game knowledge and practices, and they should be able to evaluate this unifying, tense environment and relaxing factor very well.
Teachers should have a very good dialogue with parents and should address parents’ concerns about their children.
Teachers should not discriminate between children.
Teachers must do their job with love.
HOW CAN THE PROCESS BE BROKEN IN A SHORT TIME?
The process can be overcome in a short time with parent-teacher cooperation. Parents should explain that there may be some rules at school and that they exist for children, and explain that there will be lessons at certain times and rest at certain times. It should be explained that it is not possible to learn a lot of good information if there is always play and recess. By going into too much detail, the main thing to be grasped
should not be missed or distracted.
The smallest achievements of children should not be overlooked, and they should be exaggerated and encouraged to love their lessons, school and teacher.
In the first days, it should be planned for children to be together with their schoolmates outside of school, and out-of-school sharing should be used.
In the first days, parents should be gradually allowed to be in the classroom, outside the classroom, in the school garden, and later on, an approach such as “you will be with your teacher and friends at school” should be shown with a determined attitude. The process should not be stretched too much.
Children with special problems and difficulties in adapting should be directed to pedagogues and they should be prevented from negatively affecting the class and prolonging the process. This means avoiding the waste of time and effort, it must be taken into account.
