STAIN TREATMENT

Stain is the formation of irregular and excessive coloring (hyperpigmentation) on the skin as a result of the overproduction of the pigment substance called melanin, which gives the skin its color.

STAIN TYPES

1) Melasma (chloasma)—Also known as the pregnancy mask. They are irregular spots on the face, neck, forearms. In melasma;

Due to factors such as cosmetic products, the melanin pigment is overproduced. This increase is more common in areas exposed to the sun, such as cheeks, forehead and chin. Among the above factors, the most effective one is ultraviolet and genetic tendency.

People with dark skin are more likely to be spotted than people with light skin. Because they have more melanocytes.

2) Congenital Spots—A set of moles or spots that occur at birth or after.

3) Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation—It occurs as a result of skin irritation and increased sensitivity. After peeling, laser or skin diseases such as eczema.

4) Freckles—These spots, most commonly seen on the cheeks, forehead, and chin, can be light or dark brown spots. They increase in sunny seasons and decrease in non-sunshine times.

5) Lentigo—It is brown spots that appear in later years due to sun exposure at an early age. Those that occur in advanced ages are also called senile lentigo. It is mostly seen on the hands, arms and face.

Stain is a disease that can be treated. However, before the treatment, it is necessary to determine why the stain occurs and whether it is a symptom of a disease or not.
