LGS and YKS exams are important assessments that students have to deal with throughout their education life. Although children’s feelings of anxiety before the exam increase their motivation for discipline and learning, excessive anxiety affects their success negatively. The fact that the exams coincide with the adolescence period causes students to go through this process more difficult.

EXAM ANXIETY AND ANXIETY MANAGEMENT IN STUDENTS Exam anxiety is the emotion consisting of emotional and physiological symptoms that our body shows towards the negative results of the exam before, during and after the exam. One of the most important factors affecting the formation of test anxiety is the person’s characteristic feature, learning style and the family’s behavior style. These three factors are the most important factors that trigger test anxiety. The situation that causes test anxiety to occur is the catastrophic, that is, the “worst scenario” and “catastrophic” expectations of the person. Negative thoughts such as “I will not be able to do the exam,” “I will take it badly,” “I will be disgraced,” “how am I going to face my family,” “what if I faint in the exam,” “I can’t make it up,” and “everyone is better than me” tend to predominate during the exam and begins to appear with emotional symptoms along with negative thoughts. For all these reasons, the person worries, fears, becomes unhappy, feels helpless and ashamed.

WHY DID 100 THOUSAND STUDENTS DRAW ZERO? Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) statistics have been announced. In the university exam, which was removed from the dam, 96 thousand 516 candidates scored zero from the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT). The reason why the number of zeros has increased so much this year is that with the abolition of the dam, even our students, who had no idea of taking the exam at all, applied with the desire to settle somewhere. While YKS applications were around 2 million 600 thousand last year, this year it increased to over 3 million 200 thousand, so the number of students increased by around 600 thousand. With this backlog, we can say that the quotas will be even more insufficient and unfortunately many students will be disappointed again. By looking at all these data, we can see that our education system is in an impasse. So, is this failure the failure of the student or the failure of the education system?
