Anxiety Disorders in Adolescents Adolescence is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as between the ages of 10 and 19 (Patton et al., 2016). Anxiety disorders are quite common in adolescents. It has been stated that anxiety disorders are high in the child and adolescent population (Curry and March, 2004) and tend to continue into adulthood (Beidel and Turner, 2007). Anxiety disorders, in addition to having an impact on children’s social and academic functioning (Woodward & Fergusson, 2001), often persist into adulthood if left untreated, and also pose a risk for other mental health problems (Pine, Cohen, Gurley, Brook). & Ma, 1998).
