Gastritis Gastritis is inflammation of the lining of the stomach. There are two mechanisms. The first is the damage to the protective layer on the inner surface of the stomach, and the second is the increase in the acid level in the stomach. Cigarettes, coffee, alcohol and unhealthy foods spoil the protective layer of the stomach. This causes the usual acidic contents in the stomach to damage the stomach wall. In addition, aspirin and pain relievers can also disrupt this protective layer. The bacteria named Helicobacter Pylori (HP), which is quite common in Turkey (6-7 out of 10 people), also changes the acidic structure of the stomach and creates a living space for itself. The bacteria multiplying here spoils the tissue of the stomach over time. It can cause stomach cancer over many years. However, in proportion to its prevalence, gastric cancer is not as common as HP. In other words, there is no need to panic because anyone with HP in their stomach will get stomach cancer. In fact, not every person with a positive HP test has to be treated. We have some criteria for treatment. Bull

This operation is performed with the laparoscopic method, that is, closed. For this, the abdomen is entered through 5 or 6 holes, usually 1 cm in diameter, using special tools. First, the outer part of the stomach that increases appetite is removed. In other words, the stomach is slightly reduced. Then, from the point where the small intestine meets the large intestine, 1 meter is measured towards the stomach and this point is marked. Then another 1.5 meters is measured and the intestine is cut from the found point. This cut end of the intestine is connected to the stomach. The other cut end is connected to the intestine from the first marked place, which is 1 meter away from the large intestine.

It is an operation to reduce the stomach volume and to lose weight by eating less. The stomach is cut longitudinally and 80-85% of it is removed. Because the shape of the stomach looks like a tube after the operation, it is called ‘tube stomach’ surgery. This surgery is performed with the closed (laparoscopic) method. The stomach is entered through 4-5 small holes with a camera and thin-long special instruments. The operation takes about 2 hours.
