Acupuncture treatment should be directed to the cause, not the symptom, it is a must to follow the patient during the treatment.
Indications:
One of the best known effects of auricular acupuncture is the relief of pain. The cause of the pain is not important. Acupuncture is in a position to relieve the pain, whether it is pain caused by trauma, post-operative pain that does not go away, or pain caused by infection or degenerative changes. However, although it relieves pain in very advanced arthrosis, it does not have a feature to reverse arthrosis.
Analgesic effect: It is one of the most known and used effects. Pain relief is provided by using some specific points in headaches, low back pain, rheumatic pains and other similar pains. The most popular neurological explanation for pain relief was explained in 1965 by the Gate Control Theory proposed by R. Melzack and PD Wall. According to this theory, the sensation of pain is modulated by functional gates and gates within the central nervous system. Under normal conditions, this door is wide open and pain impulses are easily felt, but when acupuncture treatment is applied, a second impulse current occurs from the injection site, the sensory confusion in front of the door caused by painful impulses and painless impulses causes this door to be closed and prevents pain from being heard. Another theory is the Endorphin Secretion Theory. (B. Pommeranz, 1976). Endorphins are a much more effective pain reliever than morphine, which the body produces itself. Endorphins are important not only in acupuncture analgesia, but also in relieving chronic pain syndrome mechanisms and other irregularities. Terrinius Upsala; showed that in patients with chronic pain, the level of endorphins is very low.
Sedation effect: Some patients fall asleep during treatment and wake up refreshed and refreshed. A decrease in delta and theta wave activities is detected in the EEGs taken during the acupuncture treatment of these patients. This effect of the treatment is used in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, drug addictions, epilepsy and some mental problems.
Homeostasis – Regulatory effect: This means bringing the body into a proper balance. Normally, homeostasis aims to establish the sympathetic and parasympathetic balances of the autonomic nervous system. This includes the endocrine system. These mechanisms are seriously impaired in many diseases and acupuncture is very helpful for the necessary repair.
Immunity-enhancing effect: Increases the body’s resistance to diseases, strengthens the immune system. Here, it is seen that white corpuscles proliferate, gammaglobulins, antibodies and other substances that constitute the body’s resistance power are increased. Antibody titration has been observed to increase by a factor of two to four in many cases. This is related to the activation of the reticuloendothelial system.
Psychological effect: This effect should not be confused with autosuggestion or hypnosis. The psychological effect of acupuncture does not occur first, but occurs following acupuncture treatment. Although hypnosis is only 10-15% effective in the general population, acupuncture is effective in all humans and animals to varying degrees. This effect is provided by the reticular formation of the midbrain and other important parts of the brain. Measurable effects have been determined by studies of metabolic chemicals of brain tissue. Ex. In the brain, dopamine and serotonin levels increase after acupuncture.
Motor Repair effect: Motor recovery is accelerated by acupuncture in the formed paralysis. Effective results are obtained in motor paralysis with acupuncture treatment of patients who have tried other treatment methods before. (Motor Gate Theory, A.Jayasuriya)
Its main indications are to eliminate reversible damage and diseases in the organism. There may be a functional disorder of this organ or dysfunction of the organ, etc. Therefore, it is possible to treat dysfunctions and dysfunctions in organs that are not completely damaged with acupuncture and restore their normal functions. These include liver, gall bladder, pancreas, kidney, stomach, small and large intestine, thyroid gland, thymus, surrenal et al. we can count.
It also has an important effect on allergic diseases. Common cold, neurodermitis, allergic asthma can be counted among the most commonly used and successful allergic diseases.
We have the opportunity to treat psychic disorders with acupuncture. It has been explained above that it has a deep sedation and calming effect.

Contraindications:
Acupuncture should not be applied in patients with acute pain whose diagnosis is not fully established. Just as the application of morphine or dolantin to a patient with suspected perforation of the stomach, duodenum or appendix is applied only after the diagnosis is confirmed and for preparation for the operation, the situation is the same in acupuncture. Acupuncture should not be applied in acute pain whose diagnosis is uncertain. Because pain is an alarming signal. It is not correct to suppress the pain without knowing the cause and etiology.
This is also true for symptom-related complaints. Pain of unknown origin should never be suppressed. It should not be forgotten that sometimes a malignant event and its metastases may lie under a pain that we take very lightly. Because suppressing the complaints of an unknown cancer patient will delay the diagnosis. This will not be compatible with medicine, and it will also contradict the ethics of deontology.
That’s why I can’t help reminding him again and again and underlining this fact. Never start acupuncture treatment without a healthy diagnosis.
In neurological diseases, especially in the medulla spinalis and myalin destruction in the brain caused by infectious and degenerative diseases, and as a result, paralysis and neuropathies of the brain and peripheral nerves. Examples of this are Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Multiple sclerosis, and polymyelitis.
In psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and endogenous depressions. However, in patients who are prone to depression and depression, it is possible to control the patient’s complaints with acupuncture.
In cancer; However, rather than curing the cancer, acupuncture is applied to control the complaints of the patient whose cancer diagnosis has been finalized.
