Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, which emerged in China in December 2019 and spread to 215 countries, travels all over the world stopped. According to the data of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the loss of the tourism sector in 2020 reached 1.3 trillion. It is thought that it will take at least 2.5 years for the sector to return to the 2019 level.

However, the rapid continuation of vaccination all over the world gave hope to the tourism sector. In fact, according to the information given by the German tourism company TUI, there was an increase in summer holiday reservations after the vaccination campaign in England. Now all countries are discussing the requirement of vaccination for travel.
Noting that vaccination will be an important criterion in travels, Ömer Niziplioğlu, President of the National Economic Think Tank (ULİKAD), suggested, “Let’s declare that we will accept those with a vaccination certificate to our country without quarantine.”
“Both the world and our country are very overwhelmed and tired due to the pandemic. We should follow the developing events closely and look for solutions, Turkey can draw the route of the path to be followed, because it is suitable for this with both its health and tourism infrastructure,” said Niziplioğlu, saying that the success rate in vaccines is around 90 percent, and that it is not too risky to accept tourists with a vaccination certificate in order to return to normal life. drew attention.
Emphasizing that Turkey can lead other countries in this regard, Niziplioğlu made the following determinations on the subject:
“Greece and Israel have mutually embraced and accepted this. Even announcing the date when we will accept guests with vaccination certificates without quarantine is an important step. Since the preparations will take a few months, we should not forget that it is necessary to take decisions and notify them.”
