These studies are mostly due to flavonoids and terfenadines in various compounds in thyme. It can be mentioned about consuming thyme as thyme oil. Obtaining the active substance in thyme in a standardized form and using it in treatment are very different things,” he said.

Stating that attention should be paid to the therapeutic use of thyme used in meals, Parlakpınar said: “Thyme and thyme products can be included in complementary and supplementary treatments. I do not recommend our patients to take and use these products after consulting their doctors. There is a list of medicinal plants and monographs under the umbrella of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency. We need to pay attention to these warnings. It should not be used in extensive skin injuries, open wounds, high fever, circulatory disorders, hormone-sensitive cancer types, severe bleeding and infections.
