This procedure is presented under the titles of Ozone Discolysis, Ozone discectomy, and ozone nucleolysis in the medical literature. In fact, the term discectomy is the medical name given to the process of cutting and removing the disc. However, studies with ozone have been the subject of many articles under the title of “ozone microdiscectomy” or “ozone discectomy”, since they provide equal success to the results of patients who have undergone surgery for lumbar or neck hernia, and it has started to be called by this name.

It has taken its place among the current interventions as the most harmless method to the human body among the methods used to treat lumbar-neck hernias. Only in Italy and Spain, 30 000 patients per year are cured with this method without surgery. It is now among the routine treatments in countries such as India, China, Japan and the USA. It is an interventional method that is still in its infancy in our country.

We know Oxygen as 02, whereas OZONE is O3. In other words, it is a gas obtained from 99% oxygen and is active oxygen used in the treatment of many diseases. It is also widely used in the treatment of pain. It is used especially in back and neck pain and calcification treatments. Very good results are obtained in patients who do not benefit from drug applications. It must be applied by experienced specialists. It is a “non-surgical” treatment that does not require scalpel and narcosis, but should be performed under operating room conditions and accompanied by imaging devices.

Excellent results are obtained in the treatment of waist-neck hernia with ozone. The patient does not get narcosis, the procedure takes place in a very short time, such as 5 minutes, and after the procedure, the patient can walk home immediately.

Hernia pain may not go away immediately after the procedure, it is necessary to wait a few days. Usually, a single application is sufficient, in some resistant cases, the procedure can be repeated and is a safe method.
