What is the treatment of herniated disc with laser?

by clinic

~~It is a method that can be beneficial in a very, very limited number of patients in the treatment of lumbar hernia. It is based on the principle of penetrating the disc with a needle, burning the jelly-like disc structure here and evaporating it, and reducing the nerve pressure by reducing the disc volume. It may be suitable for maybe 1 out of 300 herniated disc patients. Before the decision to apply, patients must have received drug therapy, rest therapy, and physical therapy. However, it can be applied if it does not pass and if it is detected that there is a hernia caused by light overflows in good imaging. Between 1998-2001, I had experience with 13 patients. I rarely use this and similar method nowadays. In my routine practice, these and similar methods are generally not available.

Since this method is performed by entering the disc distance with a needle under local anesthesia, it has been spread among the people as “lumbar hernia surgery without anesthesia, knife, bloodless” and has been abused by some. There are methods similar to this that burn the inside of the disc with a needle, dissolve the disc by giving medicine, enter the disc with a needle and aspirate the disc, and inject ozone into the disc, one of the latest fashions. These methods should only be applied to a very limited number of patients who do not really improve despite all treatments. None of these methods has been shown to be superior to the microdiscectomy method. Microsurgical method is the best method that has proven itself today in patients requiring disc intervention
