We have been moving very fast lately, we are experiencing physical, spiritual and cognitive changes. Our daily rushes; Get away from the ambition of work, friendship, family, career. Stop for a second and just listen to yourself, your body and your soul. Leave the society and the system in chaos, go away to listen to yourself, even for a while… Let’s not speak for a moment on the ground in any language, let’s stop for a second… Let’s not shake our arms, even if our eyes don’t say anything, it would be a fragrant moment, Now I’ll count to twelve. Be, I will go. LET’S BE QUIET…
When there is an event in the world or in Turkey, we give the same reactions quickly and in large numbers. As the process progresses, this situation does not change, we observe that the results are the same in mass psychology. So what is mass psychology? The word “mass” refers to groups that have randomly gathered and come together. In these communities, the conscious personality disappears. The thoughts and feelings of all these united individuals turn to one side. No doubt temporary; but a collective consciousness with very clear features is formed. Kit + le becomes a single entity. Regardless of who the individuals who make up the mass are; Whether their way of life, work force, character or intelligence is similar or different, the fact that they have become a crowd instills a kind of collective spirit in them. In the collective consciousness, the mental abilities and personalities of individuals are erased. The one who is not of the same sex drowns in the one of the same sex, disappears and his subconscious features become superior. The masses gather together common things, not intelligence.
After the earthquake, which is called the disaster of the century, we entered into a great sadness, grief and mourning together with the loss, of course. But what I want to say here is; Reactions observed in post-disaster societies. According to Ursano et al., the response to post-disaster trauma occurs in four phases: The first of its stages: It includes the rescue, resettlement, first aid and cleaning activities performed directly, uncoordinatedly and irregularly by the people and the society during the rescue and heroic phase. It starts 1-2 hours after the event and lasts up to 2-3 days. The second phase, the honeymoon phase: In this phase, both individuals and society are in a positive mood. Media, government officials, external and internal resources, aid campaigns, NGO support and legal initiatives are the most intense phase. However, 3 weeks after the disaster, the interest and interest shown with all aids begins to decrease significantly compared to the first days. In the third stage, the disappointment stage, the victims realize that the aid campaigns are inadequate, the state’s interest has decreased, domestic and foreign aid has been withdrawn, but they need much more than the available aid to rebuild their lives. This phase begins 2 days after disasters and lasts for an average of 3 months. In the fourth and final phase, the return to order phase is the phase in which housing and work problems are resolved in the long run. It begins on average 6 months after the event and extends up to 36 months.
So what stage are we in? Have we started to forget the people we all rush to help with great enthusiasm, self-sacrifice, energy, try to heal the wounds, reach out and say hello? Or are we still going? He knows the house of mourning. The house suddenly overflows, but after a while, the crowd decreases and you are alone with your pain. When the national mourning ends and life returns to normal for many of us, not a single earthquake survivor should feel this way. Let’s not forget that systematic help, sustainable improvement is very important,
