It is important not to add an extra workload to your back and waist. This extra tension can increase your hernia and pain even more.

Whether you lift an empty box or a dozen heavy boxes, there may be no difference in loading if you don’t follow the correct lifting form. Here are a few simple guidelines for practicing the right lift:

Make sure your back stays straight, your hips are bent, not your back, and your chest is out as you lift. Always use your hips when lifting an object, so as not to put too much stress on your back and waist.

Keep the object you are lifting as close to your body as possible.

Also, set your own weight limits. If you feel like a box is too heavy to lift, it’s probably too heavy indeed.
