About Asperger’s syndrome

by clinic

Asperger classifies the following symptoms as typical of this disorder. Low eye-to-eye contact, limited facial expression and tone of voice, social withdrawal and low peer relationships, difficulty in understanding emotions, stereotypical transference and behaviors, pedantic speech style, limited mutual communication and imaginary play, equipped with mental obsessions, inflexible towards routines some orientation and iterative use of objects. When Asperger first described this disease, he observed that this syndrome, which includes a tendency to completely isolate himself from the environment and withdraw into his shell, is mostly seen in boys. Excessive intellectualization, the naive indifference to the environment seen in normal children, and the absence of eyes that filter the environment are seen in these children. They are serious, thoughtful, selfish, and extremely introverted.

They appear prematurely ripe. His gaze is blank and directed to an uncertain place in the distance, and does not turn to either auditory or visual stimuli. However, these children are aware of everything that is going on around them. Conversations lack emotional expression and are monotonous. Conversations can sometimes be in the form of a whisper, sometimes in the form of shouting. The distinctive features are that the speech is usually early enough to attract attention and that it quickly turns into a smooth speech. These kids are clumsy. Body movements are incongruous and rude.

Intelligence is usually medium, sometimes above average, and rarely below medium. It focuses on specific topics. It is exaggerated and directed to a specific subject rather than general knowledge. Thus, a store of knowledge, a tendency towards collecting, rote learning, etc. often develops. Some mentally retarded Aspergers are noted for their automatic memory. For example, they can name all cruise ships or, as “calendar children,” they can name all important dates, past and future. They have difficulties in school period; because they cannot pay attention to learning methods that have their own continuity. Asperger’s people look at their problems from their own perspective, they cannot synthesize it.
