12 golden recommendations for CPAP, BPAP and APAP users:

1. Wear it while watching TV or reading a book, shortly before going to bed at night.

2. If your device has a ramp setting, be sure to use it, adjust it according to your sleep time, but keeping the ramp unnecessarily long can also be harmful.

3. Use the CPAPI every night and every time you go to sleep (including daytime naps). Using CPAPI reduces edema in your upper respiratory tract and allows you to use the device more comfortably. Taking a break from the device or using it less than recommended increases the rate of development of sleep apnea syndrome complications.

4. The new CPAP devices are pretty quiet, but if you’re still bothered by noise, you can put the CPAPI under the bed, this will reduce the noise issue.

5. Your mask should be the least tight that does not leak. You can set this up as well. Ensure that the mask fits your skin perfectly by carefully adjusting the headbands of the mask, especially by preventing a load on your nose back.

6. If you have a mild nasal congestion (congestion), use saline solution (salt water) in the nose. For this purpose, you can buy saline drops from the pharmacy, or you can use sprays sold under the name of ocean water.

7. If nasal congestion is more serious, use a decongestant for nasal or sinus congestion. If nasal congestion does not improve despite decongestants, you can consult an ENT doctor, or if the congestion is due to a cause such as a cold, you can take a break from CPAP until it resolves spontaneously.

8. Use a heating humidifier suitable for your CPAP device. This will make your breathing more comfortable.

9. If you are having trouble with traditional nasal masks, you can try mask types called nasal pillows.

10. Wash and clean your mask, hose and headband once a week, it is recommended to use baby shampoo when washing.

11. Check, clean or replace CPAP filters at recommended times.

12. Keep in close contact with your sleep doctor and the company where you bought the CPAP device. Make sure you choose the best device, mask and accessories for you.
