Aesthetic analysis of the under-chin-throat-neck region

Another evaluation is the lower jaw-throat-neck evaluation from the profile. The hyoid cartilage, lower jaw bone, soft tissue, platysma muscle, adipose tissue and neck skin that make up this area are effective in the profile.

In this evaluation;

The mandible border is defined by the line between the corner of the mandible and the chin. The thinness of the soft tissue on it and its counterclockwise structuring cause a more aesthetic appearance. The fact that the border of the lower jaw is excessive with the accumulation of adipose tissue and the clockwise structuring of this border causes an aesthetically negative appearance. The masseter muscle determines the angle of the mandible and the structuring of the posterior 1/3 of the mandible contour. The increase in the volume of this muscle with hypertrophy can affect this visuality.

The size of the lower jawbone and the soft tissue above it are important.

inclination of the lower jawbone; The fact that this inclination is counterclockwise causes the chin to be further forward and the lower 1/3 of the face to appear short. This image shows the jaw-throat-neck relationship as desired. The reverse of this, that is, the clockwise tilt of the jawbone causes the chin to be short, the lower 1/3 of the face to appear longer, and the chin-throat-neck relationship to be negative.

Throat length; This is the distance between the neck-throat point (NTP) and the menton. (NTP-Me) this is clinically defined as short or long. It is not measured in metrics. In the first picture, the yellow line is the corontal plane passing through the menton. Red is the menton-NTP line. As seen in the picture, the red line shows upward rotation. The neck-neck-throat distance is longer, and in the second picture, it rotates downwards, that is, the neck and neck-throat appear short.

The position of the hyoid bone is important. Ideally, its top and rear placement is desired.

The lower jaw-throat-neck area is the area where the most adipose tissue accumulates on the face. Examination of this area shows relaxation of muscle tissue or accumulation of adipose tissue.

The increase in skin elasticity on the neck with aging and the presence of neck bands affect neck aesthetics.
